    Dear dcctor There are many doctors who claim that many drugs don’t cause hair loss, but yet there are many patients who take medications that end up with hair loss, and when they go off of the medication, hair loss subsides. I was told Accutane doesn’t cause hair loss 10 years ago, and now it’s listed as a side effect. No I didnt have any hair loss, I do have thick hair. I had some hair loss before I started the Plaquenil but dont remember what drug I was on at the time.its just a short term problem, maybe the Dr. will give you something else. We have too much to deal with already and, a woman losing her hair, is a big deal. Its even a big deal for. Just because you may be experiencing hair loss does not mean that you have lupus. There are several other disorders can cause hair loss, so talk to your doctor if you notice unusual hair thinning or hair loss.     Hello, Plaquenil can cause hair loss. It is likely at least contributing to your hair loss. If you had a stressful event, surgery, severe illness such as Lyme, this can also trigger a generalized increased hair loss as well. Usually, the event that triggers the hair loss will occur about 2 to 3 months prior to the shedding. Im experienceing the same thing as Allie. I have been on Plaquenil for a year and a half and im losing hair like crazy as well. My Rheumatologist just recently switched my med to Prednisone but i cant really see any changes yet. I believe the Plaquenil does have some kind of affect with hair loss. Re Plaquenil side effect hairloss My daughter started taking plaquenil April 2008 for UCTD. She was experiencing a small amount of hair loss at that time and we were told by the Dr. that plaquenil would help with her auto-immune disease and the hair loss.
